Gregory Broussard is the Egyptian Lover, and the Egyptian Lover is the architect of West Coast electro. Coming up through Uncle Jamm's Army, he was throwing parties for 10,000 people at the L.A. Sports Arena before most of his peers had a record deal, running bills alongside Ice-T and the World Class Wreckin' Cru in the scene that would become NWA.

Armed with a Roland TR-808 and pulled equally towards Prince and Kraftwerk, he built his sound entirely on his own terms. On his own Egyptian Empire label he put out "Egypt, Egypt," "Girls," and "My House (On The Nile)" — tracks that fused seductive lyricism with raw metallic electronic production that still sounds like nothing else.

His albums 1984 (2015) and 1985 (2018) brought a new wave of listeners to the sound, and he's been touring heavily ever since. Festival dates across Europe, Japan and South America, club nights in Berlin, shows up and down the West Coast. Still very much active and very much in demand.

Nick León grew up in Broward County, South Florida, the son of Colombian immigrants, and has been making music since he was twelve. He came up through the South Florida SoundCloud rap scene before pivoting toward Latin rhythms from Colombia and Puerto Rico, eventually landing in the world of TraTraTrax and the loose coalition of first-gen Latinx producers, including Florentino, who spent the early 2020s pushing experimental dance music somewhere between dembow, reggaetón, and club electronics. RA called him "a poster boy for Miami's evolving, Latin-inflected club sound."

In the summer of 2024 he released "Bikini" with Erika de Casier, a track they made in a friend's New York basement that lands somewhere between raptor house, early PC Music, and a hot, humid afternoon with nowhere to be. It was RA's number one track of 2024, number eleven on Pitchfork's Top 100 Songs of the year, and number two in Crack Magazine's year-end list. He also has a production credit on Rosalía's MOTOMAMI.

His debut album A Tropical Entropy came out on TraTraTrax in 2025, a record he built around Joan Didion's book Miami and the feeling of watching things fall apart in a city that keeps moving anyway. RA called it "far and away the strongest of León's releases." He's playing a live set on Friday night.

Andrew Hogge is from Los Angeles. He went to CalArts, picked up DJing there alongside Ariel Pink and Tim Koh, and spent years doing weekly record runs up and down the California coast before anyone outside his immediate circle knew his name. In 2006 he started lovefingers.org, a site that posted one track a day with no commentary, no genre tags, no explanation. Just the music. It ran until December 31, 2009, stopped at exactly 999 tracks, and at its peak was drawing 100,000 visitors a day. That's how he became Lovefingers.

The morning after the blog ended, he announced ESP Institute. The label has been running since January 1, 2010, almost entirely on vinyl, with over 120 releases in its catalog. It put out early records by Young Marco, Tornado Wallace, and Powder, and its releases have found their way into the bags of DJ Harvey, Andrew Weatherall, and David Mancuso. Lovefingers has been running it mostly by himself, in the red since day one, and he writes the press release for every single record.

As a DJ he'll play cosmic and balearic and psychedelic and whatever else fits, moving across genres without treating any of them as a home base. He's played Berghain, Fabric, Lux Fragil, Yellow in Tokyo, and has a long-running relationship with Beats In Space in New York going back to 2006. Saturday night he's playing b2b with Tornado Wallace, an artist he gave one of his earliest platforms to.

Lewie Day has been making records as Tornado Wallace since the mid-2000s, first out of Melbourne and now based in Berlin. His output sits somewhere between house, leftfield pop, ambient and techno without committing fully to any of them, which is exactly what makes it work.

He's put out records on Running Back, Optimo Music, Ghostly International and !K7, and his productions have found their way into sets from DJ Harvey and Andrew Weatherall to Tiësto. In 2023 he released an album as one half of a.s.o., a collaborative ambient and downtempo project that became one of the more talked-about records of that year — unhurried, genuinely beautiful, and a completely different dimension of what he's capable of.

He also records as Lew E when the mood calls for something built for bigger rooms and 90s dancefloor energy. Saturday night at the Riviera is going to be a proper one.
